THANK YOU to everyone who made Button Ball 2017 a huge success!
Mark your calendar for next year's event - March 3, 2018!
Why the name change?
Since Legacy Ball first began in 2006, it has been an evening filled with dining and dancing, all while raising money and awareness to help the children in our community who are facing sexual and severe physical abuse.
At Davis House, everything we do is for the children. Because of this, we decided to incorporate that into all aspects of our organization.
The children who come to Davis House for the first time feel as if they are the only one. They feel alone. They are scared, sometimes ashamed, and often are embarrassed about why they are here, even though it's not their fault.
Each child on their first visit to Davis House picks out a button from the button box. They place their button into the Button Jar, which contains all the buttons from the children who have come before them. On the jar are the words "You Are Not Alone." This visual reminder immediately lifts their spirits, and lets them know that, indeed, they are not alone.
Each button represents a child. And to those of us at Davis House, that makes a single button worth everything. Because of this, we changed the name of our Ball to better represent the children we serve. Buttons act as secure connectors. Davis House and you provide the thread to keep the buttons in place - helping hold things together in the lives of our children. We have had great initial response to this name change and hope you will embrace the transition.
HEIDI SCHWARTZ Featured at Button Ball
One of Nashville's true talents, Heidi Schwartz is one of the leading artists of event painting. Her art is able to capture an event in a way photography cannot match. Her paintings display the event's atmosphere with an incredible use of colors and brush strokes unique to Heidi.
Heidi came to Nashville at the young age of 19 to be a musician. During her time studying at Belmont University, she discovered her love and talent in art. While working at Gaylord Opryland Hotel, she talked to an entertainment manager about a job performing. He asked if she could do a painting at a dinner. She agreed, and that led to another painting at another dinner and then another painting at a birthday. A star was born!
She is now well-known at home and abroad for her unique talent. She incorporates the immediacy of photography with the timelessness of paint to create a lively real-time interpretation of the event. The charm and elegance of a live event painter creates ambiance and provides guests with a topic of cultural conversation. At the end of the event, paintings are gifted to the CEO, bride & groom, etc. as a memento that is timeless and completely unique to their event. For charity events, the painting can be auctioned off at the end of the night to help raise money for the good cause.
Heidi will feature her artistic talent as she paints our Button Ball on March 11, 2017. At the end of the evening, you will have the opportunity to bid on this ONE-OF-A-KIND painting in our live auction. This is a rare chance you won't want to miss!
